What a good big brother!

Last night I heard Ruby whinning in the front room and before I got in there she stopped so I thought nothing of it. When I went to check on her a few minutes later this is what I found:I asked him what he was doing and he said "Ruby was crying so I gave her a bite." Well the candy worked cause she stopped crying but then we had to have Porter eat the rest of his candy in the kitchen because now Ruby cries if she sees anyone eating candy. Ruby can't even figure out how to swallow rice cereal so I can't let her get addicted to sugar before she has her first foods fruits and veggies.

Porter's Preschool Halloween Party

Porter had his first Halloween Party at his preschool today. His teacher Miss D.D. has the class as her project to get her education degree so there are only 6 kids but Porter loves going to preschool everyweek and asks to go as soon as he wakes up on Monday mornings. Miss D.D. taught them four songs that they sang for the moms and then they got to make a witches treat with things like goblin brains (popcorn) and shrievled ants (raisins).

Here are two videos of Porter singing the Halloween songs:

Ward Halloween Party

Tonight was our ward Halloween Party. Unfortunetly it was really lame, nothing compares to a Claremont 1st Ward Halloween party. There were only like 8 cars for trunk or treating. There was a chili cook off which Sam tried two different chilis the first was so hot his nose started running and the second the beans were not fully cooked. I told Sam next year I wanted to plan the Halloween party, but really I dont but I have decided that in order to have a great ward I really need to sign up for everything. BTW we were one of the eight cars and I didn't even sign up I just knew I couldn't go take peoples candy and not hand out any.

So for the good stuff: Sam was Dwight K. Shrute from the Office. I bought him some way nerdy glasses today and he looked awesome. I was supposed to be Angela but the hair dye didn't work and once I was dressed Sam said I looked like Pam so I was Pam Beesley (no pic for me because the one pic Sam took of me looked horrible).

Porter was Buzz Lightyear, which it took some major convincing to get him to wear the costume. He thought we were crazy and didn't understand everyone was going to have a costume on.

Ruby Guby was a "beautiful butterfly". Her little hat had two straps that where supposed to go under her chin but she just chewed on them all night and there were soaked when I took the costume off.

Pumpkins Pumpkins

After we went to the pumpkin patch we came home and started to decorate them. Porter was ready to "cut them up" but we still had two weeks until Halloween so I convinced him to to decorate them in other ways. The Daddy and Mommy pumpkins were a little squishy so we used these parts like Mr. Potato Head.

Porter's and Ruby's pumpkins were perfect and there was no way I was going to let them have any holes, because I want to save them for Thanksgiving, so we used these rub on tatoo faces. They all turned out really cute and luckily it was really fast and easy.
Now all the pumpkins are all lined up on our bench.

Paragonah Pumpkin Patch

After weeks of trying to find time when Sam could go with us to the pumpkin patch we finally made it. That morning we twice had unexpected visitors drop by and Sam had to go into his office even though it was his day off. We had planned to leave at 10am but finally left the house around 2pm.

We drove north and I couldn't remember if it was the 2nd Parowan exit or the 2nd Paragonah exit, but after trying out the Parowan exit I knew to keep heading north. When we got there Sam saw the $.15/lb. sign and marched into the field to get the biggest pumpkin he could find.

We left poor Ruby in the truck the whole time so that we could wander around and take pictures. Sam kept telling Porter to get a bigger pumpkin and Porter would say "No that's too big". In the end we got 4 pumpkin, one for each member of the family in coresponding sizes. We paid all of $11.10 for them. Next year we are going to go much earlier and find the biggest pumpkin in the whole patch.

Porter's 3rd Birthday!

Porter had a Dinosaur Party for his 3rd Birthday. The kids played a pin the tail on the donkey type game with Dinosaurs.

They played in the backyard and on the trampoline.

They ate pizza and frosted dinosaur sugar cookies. Five boys and only one girl at the party.

Then we had birthday cake and opened presents. Porter really had a great party and boy was I glad it was over. The party was from 11am - 1pm which was an hour too long for a three year olds party.
