Fake Cake for Carri

My sister Carri is getting married this summer and we (mostly she) is in full planning mode. I had the brillant idea that Carri should have a fake tiered wedding cake, real top later for cutting and smushing in bride and grooms faces, and then serve a sheet cake. I decided to try my hand at fondant today to see how hard it could be to make a fake cake. For my first attempt I think I rock.

Aunt Trisha

Trisha was here visiting last week. She didn't get to come just to have fun because she had to get her wisdom teeth removed. We did try to have as much fun as we could. The week didn't fly by like usual because we mostly just sat around the house trying not to overwhelm Trisha so we really didn't do anything. It was a nice relaxing slow week that we just enjoyed having Trisha here.

P.S. (My kids are total goofballs and Trisha was worried that she would look like a chipmunk if she smiled but I think she looks fine)

New Pool

Sam decided to buy a 15'x42" pool so that he could teach Porter to swim. The pool is very large for our backyard but it has been a lot of fun. Our kids are fish and if the water was warmer I think they would stay in it for hours. It isn't very deep so Porter can stand in it which is really nice so that one adult can take both kids in without having to worry about trying to hold both of them.

Swimming Lessons

Porter started swimming lessons at the community pool this week. We knew beforehand that there were 4 other kids we knew that were signed up for the same time but when we got there Porter was in one class and all his friends were in another. Luckily Porter never cares about trying new things. He has never cried about going to any nursery or sunbeam class even when he goes with his grandparents to their wards. Porter's teacher has a lot of rules (rules are always good when there is a possibility of drowning) and at first I was nervous but she has turned out to be a great teacher. I think she might also be a saint because she has a class with 5 boys and manages to keep them all in line. I love that almost every boy at the pool has a major farmers tan.

Ruby, just because I can

Here are some pictures of Ruby's new hair do. I think it is always fun to figure out new way to do her hair because other wise it is a mess. She also destroyed the look within an hour. Here she is smiling for the camera. I dont know why she does the things she does but this is her smile for my camera. She is such a funny girl and has recently started throwing herself on the floor whenever she doesn't get what she wants. Accord to family legend this is a really really really bad sign and may mean that she has an Aunt June personality which accord to my Grandma Collins my youngest sister Trisha also has (We love you Trisha!)

Busy Busy

We have been very busy for the last couple of weeks but unfortunetly I forgot my camera everytime we went somewhere or did anything worthy of blogging.

On June 1&2 Sam and I went on a fun trip to Las Vegas. My parents where in St. George so they kept our kids (which my mom was excited to have them since they dont get to see them very often). We stayed at South Pointe which was off of the strip, affordable and a really nice hotel. I am hoping to go back with the kids some day because they had a family friendly atmosphere. As a surprise Sam got us tickets to a show, Mystere, it was great to see a Vegas style show and the acrobats/gymnasts/athletes were amazing. Personally the show was bizarre and I kept trying to find a story line and I never found it. I searched online for meaning but most people said dont even try to make sense of it, honestly was on earth was the giant inflatable snail all about.

After the fun weekend I stayed in St. George with my Mom and came home on Wednesday. I went to a Modbe party Thursday night and bought a fun bathingsuit that I am eagerly anticipating. On Friday I returned to St. George and visited a waterpark with my kids which they didn't particularly enjoy. I came home again on Saturday night and have been attempting to catch up on laundry ever since.

Ruby's Pictures

My friend Nicole took Ruby's 1 year old pictures yesterday. Leilani and I had our girls pictures taken together and unfortunetly, even though they both know Nicole, the girls cried throughout the session. All I wanted was one smile and I got at least two! If you want to see more Nicole posted some of them on her photography blog, http://nicolebulkleyphotography.blogspot.com/.

Ruby is notorious for not smiling for photographers even though she will cheese it up for me. I wasted 2 hrs at Kiddie Kandid last year and got one smile. I tried JC Penneys in January and no matter what the photographers did Ruby would not smile.

Nicole found some cute old buildings in Parowan that I would have never thought to use it as a backdrop but once we were there it was such a great place to take pictures. One part of the building had this lime green door that made Ruby's blue eyes sparkle. In the back of the building there were these old windows with trees growing through them, so cute. Unfortuntely I didn't get Porter's picture taken and now I know how cute Ruby's pictures turned out so I am bummed, oh well maybe another day!
