The IN-N-OUT in St. George has finally opened! It has been rumored for years but last week when I saw the sign had been put on the building I couldn't believe it. I was on the phone with Sam and I just started screaming. Unfortunetly they weren't open yet.
Yesterday after I went to the gym I saw I had 7 missed calls from Sam. I called him back and he said that he had been in St. George and had wanted to know if I wanted an IN-N-OUT but I was too late cause he was on his way home. I screamed "You know I want one! You got me one didn't you, you had better got me one!" He just said "You'll have to wait and see." Sam likes to be tricky so I knew he had gotten me one.
I never thought I would be eating an IN-N-OUT in my house, so I took a picture.
I know a lot of people wonder what the hype is all about, but for me it is like a piece of childhood. My mom grew up near the original IN-N-OUT in Baldwin Park and they got hamburgers on special occasions and sometimes her mom would pick her up from school and take her. Growing up we got IN-N-OUT almost every Saturday for dinner. Back in the day they would give out balloons if their were kids in the car so we would beg my mom to ask for balloons. In high school we would go out for fries and shakes after dances. To Sadies Hawkins one year we even wore matching IN-N-OUT Shirts. (PS Can you believe those shoes and pants I wore?) Does anybody from CHS have our group photo?I know I am crazy but I am so glad that IN-N-OUT is relatively close and that my kids can grow up eating IN-N-OUT and think it is special too! I know now that the thing about IN-N-OUT is that parents cant always afford to take their kids to restaurants as a special treat but they could take them to IN-N-OUT.
FYI's
-The big fancy IN-N-OUT's that many non-Californian's think of are not how IN-N-OUT started. Most IN-N-OUT's in CA are a small building with two drive-throughs and no inside dinning area.
-My personal choice is a hamburger well done with everything including pickles and extra spread, and fries light.
-Animal style fries are amazing, try them some time. Fries covered with a piece of cheese, spread and grilled onions. But they are pretty expensive and you can just ask for a packet of spread to dip your fries in for free.

Oh, i'm so jealous you got that! And, of course, I have the group picture! Do you want a copy?
Love the group In-N-Out shot, I have it too, but don't have a scanner, if Linds can't find hers let me know and I get to a scanner once I am walking. BTW, I am SOOOO jealous, I would go nuts too, if I were you. Enjoy it, girl! I love the shot of Ruby smiling, I would pay serious money to get my daughter to look at the camera and smile...
You are so lucky! It's been a while for me... I can relate to the history... WE LOVE IN-N-OUT!!! I think Ruth is by far the craziest about it though!
krista! an IN&OUT! Awesome! I am so jealous. We get it everytime we go to Tucson. Think of me the next time you are enjoying a double-double and strawberry shake!
I think i was in your group for that sadie hawkins dance. i will look and see if i have the group picture. oh i just saw that lindsey has it but i will look anyways.
What a true tribute to In-N-Out, I loved it! Wow you brought back memories that I thought were long forgotten. I.E. the balloons while we waited in the car, what a good marketing tool! Now the kids just get stickers which is actually probably better than when we would slime the balloons with our spit trying to blow them up!!
qYou ARE so lucky,...or are you? I don't know if it would be a blessing or a huge curse to have one nearby. I can't eat In n Out the way I used to, you know? Cute cute picture of Ruby. She is adorable.
Krista, you don't like In-N-Out Burger, do you? Lol! Anyway, I'm glad they opened one too!
Mmmm! I grew up near an In-N-Out too! It was right across the street from the high school. And it was the kind that didn't have a dining area. I always thought that was a little bit weird, but hence the name I guess! We are in Phoenix, AZ right now and I saw one up the street. I think we might go there this weekend!
Is this just an excuse to post pictures of your former boyfriend?
