Baby No Name Ranting

Sam and I are having a hard time coming up with a name for this little boy. I still have 8.5 weeks so I am not too worried but we need to start finding a few names that we like. I am extremely picky about names and I just havent felt like I have loved any names so far. I like old normal names that aren't popular anymore, like Ruby (even though I have heard its coming back) not contemporary names. I dont like any names that people have to figure out how to pronounce but I do not want them to be one of 10 with that name at their school. For boys I like rough/tough, manly, cowboy, strong, or gunfighter sounding names like Porter (Rockwell).

So with all those catergories why can't I find a name? I think classic boy names stay strong and dont really fade like girl names do because the names that do fade become girl names (like Carol, Tracey, Cary....)

We are taking suggestions. Sam and I like Byron, but I am sure in a moment of rushing he will get called By, which I dont like. My sister Carri had Remington on her list. We both like it (Sam likes it because its a gun) but its too long, imagine a poor 4 year old having to spell that on his preschool papers. I like Oliver and we almost named Porter that but this time around Sam doesn't like it. Sam likes Joshua but that is way too normal and boring for me.

I look at baby name websites and just get frustrated and give up, but I can't keep giving up because at some point this baby will need a name! I am hoping that one day it will just come to me and I will know it is right, but I only have 60 days left for it to magically appear!!!

I really like the name Cannon right now that is my top boys name if we have another boy. Other names that I also like are
Kenyon, Grady, Sampson (but to close to Sam) Kellton. Good luck baby naming is the hardest.

I am totally biased, because it seems in Utah there is some bizarre competition to name your kid the weirdest made-up nonsense you can think of. I tend to like strong, masculine, easy-to-spell and pronounce names. Which might be too boring for you guys.

Remington is interesting, but his nickname will probably be Remy, which just isn't my fav.

I like Byron a lot. I also like Jared, Darron and Michael and Colin.

Good luck!

I know exactly how you feel. Austin still didn't have a name until after he was born. It still never hit me that it was the right name. I considered changing it for the first month at least. What ever you pick you'll like. Oliver really has grown on me though!!

Oh, boy names are so rough! We of course liked Zackary, Matthew, and Max! :) My first pick for Zack was actually Jack. LOVE it!!!! If girls can spell Stephanie then a boy can spell Remington. :) I LOVE that name, Remington. So manly studly and nice. What Brian and I finally did with Matthew was I looked through the baby name book and marked the ones I liked with a red check and he marked the ones he liked with blue so we could narrow it down to at least the ones we both agreed on....there were 2 names out of the whole book we agreed on. Matthew and Jacob. Hence the Matthew. Good luck in your endeavor!!! We are the same way. We like a good strong name that works while they are tiny as well as when they are an adult. Can you imagine having the name Catcher as an adult. Yes, sadly, I know 2 of them. Little too weird for my taste!!! And we LOVE the classic names like Gracie and Max. Love Ruby! So cute! Anyhoo, keep us updated! Have a great day! Hope you are feeling well!

I just thought Id throw out a few boy names I have on my side of the family since there are a few boys. There's Todd, Caleb, Noah, and Henry. All simple easy to spell names. I dont know if you'll like any of them but just in case. Good luck! Boys names are so hard.
