The Big Day

Today was Porter's first day of Kindergarten. Porter and Ruby were both very excited to finally wear their new clothes. We had a million errands to run before school so we woke up and got going. First I cut Porters hair, got everyone showered and dressed, ate breakfast, went to the bank and realized I didn't have the check to deposit, got gas in my car, stopped by Sam's office to get the check I needed, got another new pair of shoes (the first pair had shoelaces and I hadn't taught him to tie them yet), run to the bank and eat lunch all before school. Luckily we made good time and even got to school early and had lots of time to take pictures.
I took Porter to the gate and had him walk in with the kids who had gotten off the bus since he will start riding the bus to school tomorrow. When I watched him walk through the doors I started to tear up. I am totally fine with Porter starting school and it feels like we have been waiting for this for a long time but it was a momentous occasion and I got a little emotional.

I arrived early to pick him up so I could feel out the parking lot and see how busy it is and how early I had to get there to get a good spot. I was shocked at how few parents pick up their kids. The parking lot was very calm and I wont be needing to get there too early. Growing up we had no buses and it was a crazy mess of parents and kids so this will be completely different experience for me.
Porter said he had a good day and knew a lot of kids in his class. He got to hang out with his buddy Cooper and got to see all his friends in the neighborhood at recess.

Porter is a very resilient kid and I knew he would do well at kindergarten. I knew he wouldn't be afraid or scarred. Porter is friendly and adventurous and loves to go and learn new things. We are all very excited for this new step in his life!
