Crawling

Ruby is crawling really well these days. She loves to follow Porter all over the house. I put a box of toys in the corner between our couches for her to play with and the other day she turned the box upside down and blocked her way out of the toy corner. When I found her she was popping her little head out and whinning because she was stuck. As soon as she saw the camera though she started smiling and laughing.

GG

I decided to take the kids and go for a trip up north so see my Grandma before she flew back to California. She has been in SLC since the beginning of December so I didn't get to see her when I went home from Christmas.

There were snowstorms forecasted on and off all week and I kept watching the news to figure out what day would be a good day to travel but ended up driving in a snowstorm. It was pretty awful driving the whole way up to Provo in the snow.
When I got to Orem I went to my cousin Michelle's house and the kids and I visited for about 45 mins. After that we picked up Trisha and had dinner at one of the cheap food places Sam and I use to go to all the time, El Azteca. We then got to spend the night at Jessica and Richards house which was really fun because I hadn't gotten to see their condo before. Porter loved their cats and told me he wanted two cats just like Jessica.
The next morning we left before 8am, and before Jessica and Richard woke up, picked up Trisha and headed to Riverton to see my Grandma. We visited and played games all day. My cousin Laura even came over and we got to see Adam, Annalee, and Addison. My Aunt Ruthie took very good care of us and feed us lots of good food and treats.
The next morning I got to see my Aunt Linda and Uncle VarDee before Trisha and I went back to Provo. We got Ruby's picture taken at JC Penneys (which like always was pretty awful). We ate kids meals at the BYU Creamery, very yummy and I love their ice cream. I took Trisha back to her apartment and Porter got to wrestle with her roommate, Kiera. Unfortunately I wanted to get home before it got dark so I had to leave. The ride home was much better then the ride up there. We only had to stop twice. I am very glad we got to go visit but I will be awhile before I do it again.

Crayons are Yummy!

Porter got crayons for the bathtub a couple of days ago and I told him to make sure they were in the back corner so if Ruby crawled in the bathroom that she couldn't get them, well obviously he didn't remember. I found Ruby with the blue crayon in her mouth and since they are bathtub crayons when they get wet they get all over. She has crayon all over her shirt, pants, socks, mouth and hands. No wonder every outfit she has looks like it needs to be washed even when it is clean. She looks like a mess! I use to think that when I had kids I would never let them be all messy and gross like other parents, ha ha!

Silly Porter

Porter does and says the funniest things. Today he wanted a muffin for lunch but he wanted he warmed up. I told him it didn't need to warmed up. A few minutes later I found him in the bathroom putting water on the muffin and the muffin was all crumbled all over the counter and sink. I asked him why he was doing that and he said he was warming up the muffin with warm water.

This reminds me of a story that I just want to throw in here so I dont forget later. When we were staying in Mesquite this year Porter got his Aunt Megan's Flaming Hot Cheetos and put water in the bag because they were too hot. Its funny to see how kids minds work and they dont yet understand the difference between hot and spicy hot.

Boredom

We have had a really slow week so I haven't had anything exciting to post. Porter has been asserting his independence which frustrates me to no end but I will post more about that later. So I was bored and decided to make Ruby a sweater jacket thing. This is my prototype:
In my head it turned out fancier then in real life. I am trying to think of more things to add or ways to make it cuter. The first day she wore it some ladies asked me if I made it which is not what I want, I want it to look good enough that you can't tell it is homemade. My only problem now is that Ruby is the only one who I can make the sweaters for and they dont have baby hoodies which is what I really wanted to use and she really doesn't need a million sweaters.

My Sunbeam

Today was Porter's first day in Primary as a Sunbeam. His teacher Sister Bergstrom wrote him a letter to welcome him to Sunbeams and asked that we write down a few things about Porter for her. I told her that Porter loves to wrestle with his Dad, help his Mom, and play with his little sister. I asked him was his favorite color was and he said orange, then I asked was his favorite thing to eat was and he said oranges so I wrote that down. Porter was so excited to be a Sunbeam in sacrament meeting he kept saying "I'm a big boy, I'm a big boy". When I took him to meet his teacher and sit down in Primary he wasn't the least bit afraid. Other kids where crying hysterically and clinging to their parents but not Porter he is so easy going when it comes to nursery and now Sunbeams. His teacher told us he was good and that he was her helper. He seemed to have a good time and loves to sing Popcorn Popping.

I would like to take a minute to talk about Porter without getting too sentimental because today turned out to be less traumatic/dramatic then I thought it would be. In some ways I am shocked that I now have a Sunbeam but in other ways I know what a big boy he is and so this wasn't a surprise. Porter loves to drive me crazy everyday and tries to push me to my limits but he also loves to cuddle when he wakes up from his nap and most of the time is a great helper. Porter is very smart and is always trying to figure things out. He is full of energy, has no fear, and is willing to try almost anything. Porter likes to talk a lot, is easy to understand and loves to try to be the boss, like telling me "be careful Mom". Porter started preschool this year so that milestone has also past, luckily we have 2.5 years until he starts kindergarten (which happens to be only a few months after my 30th birthday) so by then I will probably be a basket case. I love Porter very much and we are so lucky to have him in our family!

Naughty Boys II

Today I uploaded all the pictures I took over Christmas vacation to my computer. I found these pictures that apparently Porter and Parker took on New Year's Eve without asking to use the camera. I think the pictures are pretty funny. I particularly like the picture of Parker because at first it looked all blurry but those are Parker's unmistable kissy lips and teeth.
