Pre-Thanksgiving

I convinced my Mom and my sister, Lacy (Josie & Parker too!), to come visit me the week before Thanksgiving because Josie's school had a week and a half break. Trisha had already planned to come to my house so we all got to be together. All 5 of them spent two nights at my house which 9 people in a 3 bedroom house is a lot of people with nowhere to go but we had fun eating, playing cards and figuring out what the next thing we were going to eat. On Sunday they went to my Grandpa's in St. George and I came down Monday and stayed until Wednesday evening when I met Sam in Mesquite. It was a whilwind of fun that included a lot of not sleeping because there were just too many noisy and coughing people in one room to get enough sleep.

The best part of the trip was that Lacy told us that she is pregnant and due July 12!
Here is the only picture I have of our Pre-Thanksgiving Fun.
Trisha was teaching Ruby how to pretend she was asleep by making snoring sounds.

The Moment Has Finally Come!

My Mom has waited some 27 years to tell me "You got what you deserved!" It has happened before but not to the extent that it happened today.

I have a picture of me when I was 1 year old and I had dumped baby powder all over myself and the carpet. (Notice the bells on my shoes. I got into so much stuff that my Mom put bells on my shoes so she would know where I was at all times. And if it got too quiet she knew I was in to something.)
My Mom had found me covered in baby powder yet she was able to grab her camera and capture the moment forever to make sure I knew what a naughty baby I had been. Growing up she would always tell me that she couldn't wait until I got what I deserved. Well Porter did many naughty things like rubbing diaper rash creme and black shoe polish into the carpet. But today life came full swing when Ruby not only dumped baby powder all over herself and the carpet but then she did it again later in the day. Plus earlier in the day she had gotten Sam's deoderant off our dresser and crumbled it all over her bedroom floor and all over her hands, pants, face and even put it in her mouth and was spitting it out when I came in the room. Luckily I have been preparing for these mischevious children and it makes me laugh every time they do something so ME!

This evening Ruby has gotten into both bottles of hair gel, hair wax, and cologne and found some baby oil. Plus she wrote in permanent black marker on the carpet in my bedroom last week.

Halloween

This post is yet to come. I was super stressed with the Ward Halloween Party so when Sam left for Hill AFB I didn't remember that the camera was locked in his office. As soon as I take the pictures of the kids in their costumes I will post all about halloween.

My Little Nerds

Porter and Ruby found two calculators that I have and think they are cell phones. Porter knows they aren't cell phones but I think he goes along with it so he can tease his sister that he has a phone when she can't find hers. Luckily I had two and they both can walk around pretending to talk on them. I think the reason they like them is they can push the buttons and pretend they are sending text messages.

Picture Time

We needed some pictures taken because in our old family picture Ruby was a little blob and now she has so much personality. My friend Nicole (http://www.nicolebulkley.com/) took the pictures at this awesome old, falling apart building in Summit. We got tons of pictures taken of my kids, my family, and the kids with their cousins. Ruby was herself and threw a fit the entire time. It is very surprising that there were any pictures that turned out good, it just goes to show how good Nicole is. Porter was just as badly behaved but it was more maddening because he is 4, he should be able to look at a camera and smile.

Here are some of Ruby's grouchy pictures:

Here are some of her cute pictures:

Here are some of the cute pictures of Porter:

Here are Ruby & Porter:

These pictures are my favorite. I am going to print this big and when Sam sees it he is going to be so mad but I think these are just adorable. I was changing Ruby's diaper so Nicole shot some pics to get ready for our family shots and I love them.

Finally our family pictures. Sam like the picture of us walking into the sunset but I can't get over my butt out there for the world to stare at. Sam thinks he looks bad in all of the family pictures he likes so I am waiting for him to pick the picture that he thinks he looks the best in then I am going to photshop it into the picture I like the best.

Sadly I have to say that my photographer is moving :-( The only reason I dont cry myself to sleep over it is because she is moving an hour away and I still plan on meeting her for photos sometime but it definately wont but as easy as scheduling a photo session at girls night. Thanks Nicole, once again the pictures are awesome!

My Crazy Alien

For Porter's actual birthday we didn't do much. We had gone to his grandparents the day before and had a second birthday party so we were worn out. It had also snowed over night and I was pretty bummed because the news said it was the earliest it had snowed in recorded history in our area, which to me means I am in for a long cold winter. We sang happy birthday to him that morning and kept telling him it was his birthday but he told us his birthday was the next day. They even sang to him at church but their was no convincing him.

That night after church we were all just relaxing and Porter comes out with socks on his hands, shorts on his head and a noisy gun. He told me he was an alien and he kept shooting things. With the shorts on his head he really did look like some alien creature. He wanted his face covered but had to kept lifting them up so he could see. To me the funniest thing was that almost all of his skin was covered because of the shorts covering his head and the socks on his hand but he must have not noticed that one of his socks had fallen off. Porter is such a funny kid and is always keeping me entertained. I honestly have no idea where he gets these ideas.

Pumpkin Patch

This year I wanted to go to the pumpkin patch really early so we could get the best pumpkins. We had a few things come up so we didn't go until Oct. 9th. I got us lost again because it is so hard for me to remember which city and which exit. Luckily DD is the pumpkin patches best customer and had already been to the patch on the day it opened so I called her and she told me how to get there.

Our friends, the Rushton's, came with us to the patch. They just moved here so it was their first time going. Their two oldest girls, Riley and Savannah, were so cute picking out tiny little pumpkins. There were tons of pumpkins everywhere and it was hard to decide which pumpkin would be the best. Porter kept tell us he had to find a pumpkin "bigger then my head". We try to get pumpkin that correspond in size to each person and then we sit them on our bench.
