Sleeping kids are so cute, especially when they fall asleep in weird places. Ruby is not a good napper and and never has been so this is the first time she has ever fallen asleep while doing something. She was the perfect subject for me to play around with my camera so I took about 20 pictures and she must have been really tired because she didn't even move when there was a flash.

I found it!

A couple hours after making my last post I was cleaning and randomly the Sadie Hawkins group picture I was looking for was sitting on my year book on a bookshelf. So here it is:I have no idea why two couples aren't wearing IN-N-OUT shirts. Don't we all look so fabulous and it brings back so many wonderful (or not) memories.

Thanks for all the comments about my IN-N-OUT blog, it was my most popular blog ever! Thanks to everyone who volunteered to email me the picture too!

Quality You Can Taste

The IN-N-OUT in St. George has finally opened! It has been rumored for years but last week when I saw the sign had been put on the building I couldn't believe it. I was on the phone with Sam and I just started screaming. Unfortunetly they weren't open yet.

Yesterday after I went to the gym I saw I had 7 missed calls from Sam. I called him back and he said that he had been in St. George and had wanted to know if I wanted an IN-N-OUT but I was too late cause he was on his way home. I screamed "You know I want one! You got me one didn't you, you had better got me one!" He just said "You'll have to wait and see." Sam likes to be tricky so I knew he had gotten me one.
I never thought I would be eating an IN-N-OUT in my house, so I took a picture.

I know a lot of people wonder what the hype is all about, but for me it is like a piece of childhood. My mom grew up near the original IN-N-OUT in Baldwin Park and they got hamburgers on special occasions and sometimes her mom would pick her up from school and take her. Growing up we got IN-N-OUT almost every Saturday for dinner. Back in the day they would give out balloons if their were kids in the car so we would beg my mom to ask for balloons. In high school we would go out for fries and shakes after dances. To Sadies Hawkins one year we even wore matching IN-N-OUT Shirts. (PS Can you believe those shoes and pants I wore?) Does anybody from CHS have our group photo?

I know I am crazy but I am so glad that IN-N-OUT is relatively close and that my kids can grow up eating IN-N-OUT and think it is special too! I know now that the thing about IN-N-OUT is that parents cant always afford to take their kids to restaurants as a special treat but they could take them to IN-N-OUT.

FYI's
-The big fancy IN-N-OUT's that many non-Californian's think of are not how IN-N-OUT started. Most IN-N-OUT's in CA are a small building with two drive-throughs and no inside dinning area.
-My personal choice is a hamburger well done with everything including pickles and extra spread, and fries light.
-Animal style fries are amazing, try them some time. Fries covered with a piece of cheese, spread and grilled onions. But they are pretty expensive and you can just ask for a packet of spread to dip your fries in for free.

Just Because

This is just a cute picture of Ruby that I took the other day. I love her two ponytails in this picture, they are sticking straight out. When I wash her hair it is amazing how long it is, when it is all wet it is past her shoulders. Recently I found out I could pull it up in ponytails all the way from her ears, no more squares for us. Ruby makes the funniest smile faces when I bring the camera out, she just loves to cheese it up for the camera.

Fun at Grandpa's

While my family is here they usually stay at my Grandpa's. So that one person doesn't have to do the driving between my Grandpa's house and mine we split the days up. They were at my house for Ruby's birthday so I went to my Grandpa's for Saturday and Sunday. My Uncle Cory made all the kids balloon animals, hats, swords, or flowers. Porter and Parker loved the swords.

Josie and my Grandpa got the hats.We had lots of fun hanging out with my family that we don't get to see very often. We played some card games and the kids went swimming. Lacy and Ruby got to pose together. Lacy and I got to do a little shopping and that is always fun. We tried to shopping with the kids but it was horrible and embarassing so we left them with my Mom and then we had some fun. We went to church and had an amazing salmon dinner that my uncle caught in Alaska and smoked on the barbeque. I had to go home Sunday night and they left Monday morning:-(

Ruby's Birthday Party

Ruby Rae,the big 1 year old!

I can't believe that Ruby is already 1! This year has gone by so fast but yet moving to our new house and having a baby seems like such a long time ago. We decided to have a little family party for her because she didn't seem old enough for a birthday party for friends. Porter had a party with friends when he turned one and now I look back and wonder what I was thinking.
We had family birthday barbeque. After dinner we started the party games that they kids had been asking about all day. Lacy and I had made a pinata out of a box and we let the kids draw on paper bags. Ruby got the first hit on the pinata and after all the kids tried and weren't making a lot of progress I helped Ruby whack it until it started to brake and let Porter finish it off. They all swarmed for the candy and Sam had to grab some to let Ruby pick up. Next we played put the candle on the birthday cake (like pin the tail on the donkey), Parker won a candy bar for getting the closest.

After the games Ruby got to eat her birthday cake. Before I let her start I put her birthday hat on and she did not like that at all and started crying, so I had to take it off. When
she got her cake she didn't seem very interested but she took her time and really got it all over the place. It was really hard for all the kids to sit and watch Ruby eat her cake, their hands kept getting closer and closer.

She opened presents and she got lots of clothes and fun toys. Lacy got her this outfit that Trisha and I loved and I had almost got it for Ruby's 9 month pictures.

Well Ruby is one and she is a wonderful girl. She is mostly indepentant but when she feels like it she will give lots of hugs and kisses. So far she seems like she is pretty easy going and doesn't get mad unless she cant get down and go. Ruby gets into every drawer I have and pulls everything out. She loves the bathroom and cries if I shut her out. She loves Porter and every morning attacks him with hugs and kisses. Ruby has never been a good daytime sleeper but overall has been an good nighttime sleeper from the day she was born (minus the time period when she was 6-8 months old when she woke up 2-3 times a night). Ruby is a very happy, loving, and sweet little girl, I love her very much and I am so happy she is part of our family!

Ruby's First Birthday

My Mom, Dad, Lacy, Josie, Parker and Amy came to spend the day with Ruby. The kids played and played while we got ready for the party.
