Ruby's Pictures

My friend Nicole took Ruby's 1 year old pictures yesterday. Leilani and I had our girls pictures taken together and unfortunetly, even though they both know Nicole, the girls cried throughout the session. All I wanted was one smile and I got at least two! If you want to see more Nicole posted some of them on her photography blog, http://nicolebulkleyphotography.blogspot.com/.

Ruby is notorious for not smiling for photographers even though she will cheese it up for me. I wasted 2 hrs at Kiddie Kandid last year and got one smile. I tried JC Penneys in January and no matter what the photographers did Ruby would not smile.

Nicole found some cute old buildings in Parowan that I would have never thought to use it as a backdrop but once we were there it was such a great place to take pictures. One part of the building had this lime green door that made Ruby's blue eyes sparkle. In the back of the building there were these old windows with trees growing through them, so cute. Unfortuntely I didn't get Porter's picture taken and now I know how cute Ruby's pictures turned out so I am bummed, oh well maybe another day!

Bathtub Time Again!

These pictures just make me smile so I thought I would post them. Ruby loves bathtime, or anytime she can be in or touching water. She gets so excited she will try to climb in the tub on her own if I am not fast enough. In the first picture you can she is standing on her tippy toes trying her hardest to climb in.
This last week she has had the worst diaper rash I have ever seen and I thought putting her in the bath would really hurt with such a raw bum but she didn't care, she loved it. It was the happiest she has been since she got sick. Lately I have been working in the backyard a lot and sometimes I need to keep her occupied and all I have to do is turn on the hose.
Last month we went swimming and Ruby loved it but she was such a pain because she was fighting to get out of my arms. I even let her go under a couple of times and it only took a minute and she was fighting me again. Ruby is going to love Mommy/Daddy and me swimming that starts next week.

Sleeping kids are so cute, especially when they fall asleep in weird places. Ruby is not a good napper and and never has been so this is the first time she has ever fallen asleep while doing something. She was the perfect subject for me to play around with my camera so I took about 20 pictures and she must have been really tired because she didn't even move when there was a flash.

I found it!

A couple hours after making my last post I was cleaning and randomly the Sadie Hawkins group picture I was looking for was sitting on my year book on a bookshelf. So here it is:I have no idea why two couples aren't wearing IN-N-OUT shirts. Don't we all look so fabulous and it brings back so many wonderful (or not) memories.

Thanks for all the comments about my IN-N-OUT blog, it was my most popular blog ever! Thanks to everyone who volunteered to email me the picture too!

Quality You Can Taste

The IN-N-OUT in St. George has finally opened! It has been rumored for years but last week when I saw the sign had been put on the building I couldn't believe it. I was on the phone with Sam and I just started screaming. Unfortunetly they weren't open yet.

Yesterday after I went to the gym I saw I had 7 missed calls from Sam. I called him back and he said that he had been in St. George and had wanted to know if I wanted an IN-N-OUT but I was too late cause he was on his way home. I screamed "You know I want one! You got me one didn't you, you had better got me one!" He just said "You'll have to wait and see." Sam likes to be tricky so I knew he had gotten me one.
I never thought I would be eating an IN-N-OUT in my house, so I took a picture.

I know a lot of people wonder what the hype is all about, but for me it is like a piece of childhood. My mom grew up near the original IN-N-OUT in Baldwin Park and they got hamburgers on special occasions and sometimes her mom would pick her up from school and take her. Growing up we got IN-N-OUT almost every Saturday for dinner. Back in the day they would give out balloons if their were kids in the car so we would beg my mom to ask for balloons. In high school we would go out for fries and shakes after dances. To Sadies Hawkins one year we even wore matching IN-N-OUT Shirts. (PS Can you believe those shoes and pants I wore?) Does anybody from CHS have our group photo?

I know I am crazy but I am so glad that IN-N-OUT is relatively close and that my kids can grow up eating IN-N-OUT and think it is special too! I know now that the thing about IN-N-OUT is that parents cant always afford to take their kids to restaurants as a special treat but they could take them to IN-N-OUT.

FYI's
-The big fancy IN-N-OUT's that many non-Californian's think of are not how IN-N-OUT started. Most IN-N-OUT's in CA are a small building with two drive-throughs and no inside dinning area.
-My personal choice is a hamburger well done with everything including pickles and extra spread, and fries light.
-Animal style fries are amazing, try them some time. Fries covered with a piece of cheese, spread and grilled onions. But they are pretty expensive and you can just ask for a packet of spread to dip your fries in for free.

Just Because

This is just a cute picture of Ruby that I took the other day. I love her two ponytails in this picture, they are sticking straight out. When I wash her hair it is amazing how long it is, when it is all wet it is past her shoulders. Recently I found out I could pull it up in ponytails all the way from her ears, no more squares for us. Ruby makes the funniest smile faces when I bring the camera out, she just loves to cheese it up for the camera.

Fun at Grandpa's

While my family is here they usually stay at my Grandpa's. So that one person doesn't have to do the driving between my Grandpa's house and mine we split the days up. They were at my house for Ruby's birthday so I went to my Grandpa's for Saturday and Sunday. My Uncle Cory made all the kids balloon animals, hats, swords, or flowers. Porter and Parker loved the swords.

Josie and my Grandpa got the hats.We had lots of fun hanging out with my family that we don't get to see very often. We played some card games and the kids went swimming. Lacy and Ruby got to pose together. Lacy and I got to do a little shopping and that is always fun. We tried to shopping with the kids but it was horrible and embarassing so we left them with my Mom and then we had some fun. We went to church and had an amazing salmon dinner that my uncle caught in Alaska and smoked on the barbeque. I had to go home Sunday night and they left Monday morning:-(
